It's probably safe to say that friendships are built by spending time together.
Why not use some of that time, to encourage and help each other along life's road. There's many ways to spend your time together. But when it comes down to helping each other with the Christian life, some people don't know how. Well, why not get a group of friends together and have a relaxed Bible study in your home. Sharing your thoughts about the Scriptures and building up everyone's knowledge about the word of God. There is a good variety of Bible quiz games available in most Bible shops, and it may surprise you how much you enjoy them.
It's also very easy for a group of friends to encourage other people. Throughout the world, many elderly people are in nursing and residential homes, where they receive very little visitors. Every day is just the same old routine. Many of them would welcome a group of young people coming in to visit them. As a group you can take the opportunity to witness to the people, share testimonies and even sing to them. It also helps if you sometimes bring a little present with you for the residents, even something small like a packet of buns or something. The smallest things given from the heart encourage people much. This of course doesn't have to be done in a nursing home, wherever there's a need there's an oppourtuniny! (Just a tip - It may be advisable to talk with the manager(s) of the home before you go. Most will be pleased to have you come).
