Moving home? Need a new job? Going to university or college? Getting married?

"A man's heart deviseth his way; but the Lord directeth his steps" - Proverbs 16:9.

It's good and essential for us to make plans, but we need to continually depend upon the Lord to direct EVERY step. We need to seek His will regarding our life.

Throughout the day we rely on our own judgements and feelings to make small decisions - like what we will wear and eat, who we will visit or call on the phone - it's a good idea to ask God, every morning to guide you during the day and to put thoughts into your mind of where you should go, so that you can be in His will. It isn't necessary to spend half an hour in prayer to find out if God wants you to go to the shop, especially whenever you need to buy groceries - that's obvious! We do encourage you to pray for safety as you go out, and to take heed to any strong feelings that make you uncomfortable about going somewhere, now whenever it comes down to making major decisions like moving home or country, changing jobs, getting married - decisions that may affect you (and even others) - you should ALWAYS seek God's will in the area through prayer.

Very often Christians do pray about decisions like these, fail to wait patiently for a CLEAR answer and then they wonder why it all went wrong. Sometimes they have made their decisions based on a 'foggy' answer, - it seems like God is saying, "yes go ahead", but they aren't 100% sure of it - they want to make a decision quickly, so they go ahead anyway and very often they fall. Simply because they didn't wait for a CLEAR answer!

Others have been known to say, "Well I'm just going to do it - if it's not God's will, He'll stop me!" - This is a dangerous way to make decisions - and will eventually result in being side-tracked from God's direct will. The best way to be sure of God's will is to PRAY about the situation, READ His word and WAIT for an answer, making sure that you are in 'talking terms' with God (See prayer ). Continue to pray until you are sure about the answer - and remember God WILL answer our prayers!

All you have to do is:

Ask - that's simple.

Seek - search within yourself. Is there any sin in your life? Once you are sure you have a clear conscience before God then,

Knock - begin to ask God more boldly.

Keep Praying! Don't give up; sometimes it only takes once more." No-one can afford to be wrong. We all need to be so sure that each new venture is 100% from God and not just our good ideas!

Remember: Ask,   Seek,   Knock.
